Ansari is an accomplished journalist who brings over 20 years of experience in writing, editing and production to the ANOKHI MEDIA family.<\/p>\n<p>Most recently she returned from Jakarta, Indonesia where she filmed her first documentary\u00a0<strong><em>The Style Atlas-Jakarta<\/em><\/strong>. Exploring Indonesia\u2019s remarkable modern wear and modest wear fashion scene, the film will soon will be heading to the global film festival circuit.<\/p>\n<p>She was the\u00a0first South Asian Muslim woman to break into the mainstream\u00a0Canadian magazine publishing scene at<em>\u00a0<strong>FLARE<\/strong><\/em>, Canada\u2019s national fashion\u00a0magazine. Among the many highlights at\u00a0<em>FLARE<\/em>\u00a0included producing\u00a0<strong><em>Celebrating Canadian Beauty, Photographs by Bryan Adams<\/em>,<\/strong>\u00a0a critically-acclaimed photography book released in October 2004 as part of\u00a0<em>Flare<\/em>\u2019s 25th anniversary celebrations as well as producing various covers and entertainment and fashion shoots with various pop cultural and fashion icons including Linda Evangelista, Shania Twain, Gwen Stefani and Pamela Anderson.<\/p>\n<p>Her interest in entertainment is part of her DNA as she is the granddaughter of one of India\u2019s revered directors of film noir in the early days of Bollywood. She documented her experience growing up with such a mentor in her September 2003\u00a0<em>FLARE<\/em>feature, \u201cMy Own Private Bollywood.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>After\u00a0<em>FLARE,<\/em>\u00a0she\u00a0then moved to Torstar and helped launch\u00a0<strong><em>Weekly Scoop Magazine<\/em><\/strong>, Canada\u2019s first weekly\u00a0celebrity magazine, as the Director of Photography.<\/p>\n<p>Currently Hina is a successful freelance writer, editor and journalist with a robust portfolio. Her work has been published in\u00a0<strong><em>Elevate Magazine<\/em><\/strong>,\u00a0<strong><em>The<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0<strong><em>Toronto Star<\/em><\/strong>, and\u00a0<strong><em>Zoomer<\/em><\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>TheKit.ca<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Flare.com<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>GlobeandMail.com<\/strong>. Hina also produced fashion accessory pages for\u00a0<strong><em>Burda Style<\/em><\/strong><em>,<\/em>\u00a0a well-established European fashion magazine. Hina was also brought on board as the South Asian Editor, and helped launch,\u00a0<strong><em>The Kit: South Asian Edition<\/em><\/strong><em>,<\/em>\u00a0the South Asian spinoff of Torstar\u2019s<strong>\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/thekit.ca\/\">TheKit.ca<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Hina has\u00a0spoken about fashion, pop culture and South Asian affairs on\u00a0national media outlets including the\u00a0<strong>CBC News Network<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>CBC Radio<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0<strong>Newstalk 1010AM<\/strong>\u00a0radio as well as in the documentary\u00a0<em>Muniza in the Middle<\/em>. She has also been blogging about her other\u00a0love \u2014 foreign policy and social issues \u2014 for\u00a0<strong><em>The Huffington Post\u00a0Canada<\/em><\/strong>.
