Bio

She was just 18 months old when she started singing along to ABBA and her family knew that she was a star in the making.

Singer-songwriter, Roveena’s early musical inspirations were the three leading divas of our time — Celine Dion, Whitney Houston and Mariah Carey. She studied classical piano and composition at the University of Waterloo, but chose to pursue a career in human resources. Even though she was working towards a traditional vocation, she couldn’t deny what her heart truly wanted, and that was to sing.

Navigating the incoming hurdles that dotted her path, fueled her ambition. Rejection was painful and at times crippled Roveena’s drive to succeed, but she knew that if she quit, her soul would suffer.

She got her big break after posting a video of herself singing Etta James’s classic song “At Last” on YouTube in 2010. She landed a guest spot to perform on CityTV and Roveena dazzled, turning a one-minute segment into eight minutes and launching her career.

Her first EP, “Love Will Light The Way” (2014), received critical acclaim and garnered attention from various media outlets, including glowing reviews from CBC Radio and Cheek magazine. A year later, Roveena, who is the brand ambassador for Lymphoma Canada, released the song’s accompanying music video on World Lymphoma Day, to help raise awareness for the fifth most common cancer in Canada, which her father has also been diagnosed with.

Roveena sang the national anthem at two Toronto Blue Jays game and an NFL game, boosting her profile in Canada and globally.   Over the past year, Roveena has been taking the music scene by storm. Her recent cover of Shawn Mendes’s “Stitches”, reached over 140,000 spins on Spotify and she boasts a whopping 350,000 streams on Spotify in total. She’s garnered eight million views in a YouTube video collaboration Billi Bunni to use her song as the soundtrack for their Fifty Shades Darker Fan Trailer and she was also named Best Pop Artist at the 2017 Toronto Independent Music Awards.

Roveena released her latest album Fearless, this past October and is currently working on a North America and European tour.
