Having collaborated with over 100 artists, British rapper Raxstar has established himself as a household name in desi rap and hip-hop. Inspired by the Bollywood and smooth R&B records he grew up listening to, Raxstar broke out onto the desi scene in 2005 with his single “Keep It Undercover”.
Identifying as a British Asian, Raxstar acknowledges the disconnect between his Indian heritage and British upbringing and uses this to build a musical world his listeners can relate to. He used this perspective to create infamous songs like “Jaaneman,” (2011), which garnered over four million views on YouTube and became an international sensation in India and Pakistan.
In 2014, he won the Best Urban Asian Act Award at the Brit Asia TV World Music Awards and was named Eastern Eye’s Best Independent Act.
Raxstar has collaborated with artists like Zack Knight, Mickey Singh, and Bohemia and Badshah, which has led him to tour all over the U.K. and internationally. His work includes his album Lost Ones (2008), mixed single Spring Cleaning (2010), EP, About A Girl (2011) and album Late On Time (2012) continued to showcase his versatility and lyrical ingenuity. Songs, such as “Queen” (with Zack Knight), “Poison” and “Signs” (with Mickey Singh). His latest release “San Raha” (2017) by T-Series is proving to be another success and has a debut commercial EP set to be released this year as well.
