Deepjot Singh, better known as Deep Jandu, took the stage at the age of 14. Born in Montreal, Canada, Jandu had no intention of becoming a vocalist, but his fellow group members from the popular local bhangra group, Sonay Gabroo Punjab De, discovered the natural talent among them.

Jandu continued to hone his vocal technique by receiving vocal training from Pandit Mahesh Mulwani and Ustad Jagjit Singh. By the age of 18, he developed his own musical style — a traditional Punjabi flow with a touch of urban.

In 2009, he released his debut album, “Nach,” and he released his second album, “In the Deep,” in 2012. His hit single “A Giya Ni Ohi Billo Time” reached over seven million views on YouTube.

Throughout his career, Jandu has produced and released a number of tracks with other top artists in the Punjabi music industry. His most groundbreaking tracks this year are “Yaar Beli,” “Yaari” by Guri, and “Kaali Camrro” by Amrit Maan, which was nominated for Best Non-Resident Punjabi Director at the 2017 PTC Punjabi Music Awards.

Jandu is currently working on his third solo album and was named one of CBC’s top Asian artists for 2017.
