Prior to joining the News Network team in Toronto, she was the Washington Correspondent for Global National. As one of the first female Indo-Canadian television correspondents based out of the U.S. capital, she covered the 2016 U.S. presidential race, international news and politics.

Pole reported on the launch of Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump’s presidential campaigns, and traveled to cover primary races and political stories. She was in Orlando to cover the second-deadliest mass shooting in recent U.S. history and the nation’s worst terror attack since 9/11, when a gunman killed 49 people in a nightclub. Aarti also covered Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s state visit with US President Barack Obama, the first visit for a Canadian leader in nearly 20 years.

Pole was previously a reporter with CBC News Toronto and The National, covering local stories, international news, and politics. She joined the Toronto team from B.C. where she worked at CBC Vancouver as an anchor and reporter, launching Vancouver’s weekend TV newscast in 2011, and then CBC Radio’s weekend newscasts in 2012.

In B.C. Pole was part of CBC’s award-winning coverage of the Stanley Cup Riots in June 2011. She also brought Canadian viewers coverage from forest fires and reported live from BC ridings during the federal election. Before moving to Vancouver, Aarti was a reporter and anchor for CBC News Winnipeg. She worked as a VideoJournalist, shooting and editing her stories for The National. For CBC Winnipeg, Aarti covered a variety of stories from natural disasters to politics, the Royal Visit in 2010 and was sent to Vancouver to cover the 2010 Olympic Games.

Pole started her career in Terrace, B.C. as a video journalist, anchor and radio reporter, after graduating from Ryerson University’s Journalism program. She also has a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and International Relations from the University of British Columbia.
